Why is a Tensioner important?

You may have heard your mechanic say that there is not enough tension on the belt causing it to slip. At times the lack of tension can boil down to a bad Tensioner or any one of the related parts in the circuit. When that happens, these parts need to be replaced right away. Thankfully most of these parts are not expensive for the vehicles available in the IE. However, they still need to be professionally diagnosed and installed. In some cases, a replacement may not be necessary, but that’s something only a professional can determine before you buy a genuine part.

How to diagnose a problem?

One of the telltale signs of a bad Tensioner is that you’ll feel as though the belts are loose. In the case of most modern vehicles, it may be the AC belt or the engine chain that consistently gives you problems. While tightening the belt by yourself may fix the problem temporarily it is not the permanent solution. That said installing new parts or fixing existing parts in most vehicles is not a DIY task, so you’ll need to take the car to a mechanic. Delaying installing new parts can cause a breakdown when you least expect it, not to mention potential harm to other parts of the car.
