Many of the latest, clean diesel vehicles including trucks and regular cars like the Mercedes-Benz Bluetec system uses liquid urea injection also referred to as AdBlue (by Mercedes) into the exhaust to reduce the amount of nitrous oxide sent into the atmosphere. The injection of urea into very hot exhaust gasses helps to release ammonia which then offers the right chemistry to help the catalytic converter, mainly convert the NOx into nitrogen and water. Research has shown that urea injection can help to eliminate up to 80% of the NOx sent into the atmosphere which meets even the most stringent emission standards.
If you drive a diesel engine car, then you may need one. If you already have one installed, then you’ll have to get it checked to see if it’s still working. Make sure to get your vehicle checked to see if it meets all the present legal standards set by the IE’s environmental agency. If you discover that your vehicle does not or the existing urea injection system is not performing optimally then you will need to get it fixed or replaced.
Purchasing a urea injection system can be a little tricky as it has just now started to become common but there is little information out there. We have made buying a high-quality system incredibly simple as we only sell urea injection systems by well-known brands such as Bosch and Mann-Filter amongst others. If you have any questions about the system, feel free to call or email us for more information.
